About the Company: Our vision is to develop beautiful products of About the Designer: Born in 1971 to a Punjabi father and an American mother, Amrieka Takhar (known as Mieka to close
friends and family) has always had a foot in the door of both Eastern and Western worlds. Throughout her life and travels, she has found that people from a multitude of cultural backgrounds relate to her because of the inherent cultural diversity that is her birthright. She grew up in an atmosphere comprised of entrepreneurial drive on both sides of her family,
with key role models who had the ability to create something out of nothing, and who won the respect of their communities because they were able to make a difference in ways that benefited the majority. Amrieka relocated to India in 2004 with an idea that
she, too, could make a difference. Blending her background in the fine arts and business development with her desire to contribute to social justice in a creative way, she is now presenting to the socially conscious consumer a high end, ethically produced product range offered under the 'Mieka' label. Branding a label is only the tip of the iceberg for Amrieka; she intends to continually evolve the
platform so that more and more people within the cottage industry sector, in multiple countries, will benefit. She would like for these efforts to benefit communities, not just individuals.
